The Last Airbender Movie

Yep, I watched it. And I want my money, as well as my precious time, back.
LOL can’t say that since it’s my fault, though. XD I know I was going to be disappointed but I watched it anyway, so yeah. I’m mad.
Even from the start, I was like, “Huh?” And then Katara had to call her brother with something that sounds like “Sock-ah” like seriously. And they call Aang as “Ahng” and Iroh as “Ee-roh”…
M. Night Shyamalan, I’m sorry but you fail. Like, FAAAIIILLL.
There were some important parts that were missing and odd and changed… Hence the oddness. Like how the iceberg just showed up out of nowhere (Katara’s bending had nothing to do with that!). Like how Aang and Appa weren’t recovered as instantly as in the animation, I was like, “How did Katara and Sokka bring Aang AND Appa to the village by themselves?” Like how Haru (if he was really Haru at all) was so small and vulnerable and IN KYOSHI ISLAND. Like how they didn’t meet Suki AND THE WHOLE KYOSHI WARRIORS. Like how Katara got the waterbending scroll as easy as that without having to steal it from the pirates (and later be saved from them by Zuko!!! Or not. Well I am a Zutarian, LOL). Like how they didn’t meet Theo and the whole flying tribes-people in the Northern Air Temple (plus Aang went there alone and there were absolutely nobody but one!). Like how weird-looking the Blue Spirit mask was (I mean it was okay but the hair thing disturbed me). Like how Zuko was frozen by Katara in some room and not at the spiritual place thing. Like how Aang didn’t get to bend the water until it looks like he’s some kind of water monster. Like how Zhao was killed by four waterbenders and not because Aang threw him into the ocean. Like how almost the whole movie was so serious and Sokka (or rather, Sock-Ah) had completely no time for his epic sarcasm wins nor did Aang for his cheery-cherry kid-like personality nor did Iroh for his tea addiction.
And not to mention the casting! (Again, I know…) It’s like the whole characters were represented in the exact opposite! Oh my goodness did Shyamalan even watch the animation? I don’t think I’ll be surprised if he didn’t.
Well… It has been an awfully long time since I saw the first book of the cartoon, so maybe the oddness-es that I pointed out were actually kind of like the animation… Or maybe there are even more misses!
I suppose it’s going to be rather alright to people watching it if they’re not Avatards. I mean, the element-bending effects were good enough, if not great! And maybe Shyamalan didn’t mean to represent all parts of the animation in the movie like exactly as they are, and the duration is far shorter than the actual book, so not all parts could fit in it. I don’t know. I liked The Happening and The Village, they were alright, but this one… *sighs* Even my younger sister fell asleep a couple of times while watching it.
I still hope there will be the second movie, only if a person who completely understands the animation does Shyamalan’s work and re-cast the actors and actresses. I like Jackson’s, Noah’s, Dev’s and everyone’s acting, but they can’t act there again if they are going to make an approve-able adaptation film. But again, who am I to judge? I’m just an Avatard who understands truly nothing about film-making.
lyksrslylawlexdee!
PS: tedsowards from YouTube made an excellent job of reviewing the movie!

Oh, and one more thing: the cabbage merchant! LOL it’d be awesome if he was there.
how come a fire bender need a fire near them, to bend a fire. just like water bender and earth bender. and the only way they can produce fire is when the comet arrived. or at least “EE-roh” can do it.
LoL
Dudette, reading your review makes me reschedule my plan to watch Last Airbender. I think maybe I’ll watch it on DVD later. Either that, or I’m not going to watch it at all.
I’m not a huge fan of A:TLA as you are (well, I would be, if A:TLA has a delicious ginger or a blonde badass to make me drool), so I’m not too eager to watch this movie.
M. Night Shyamalan has a bad track record when it comes to make a movie. I respect him though, after all he has a masterpiece, The Sixth Sense, I love it. That’s the only great movie Night has made. While the others are just so-so or suck.
LOL
